Bridges
The loss of a single tooth can have a major impact on your dental health and personal appearance. Your teeth support and rely on each other. When one or more teeth are missing, the remaining teeth can shift out of their normal position. Teeth adjacent to the space or from the opposite jaw will often drift or tilt. These teeth are often more susceptable to decay and gum disease because they are more difficult to clean around. All of this shifting and drifting will lead to changes in the bite, which may put stress on the jaws, muscles and teeth. Ultimately, your ability to chew comfortably and your appearance may be affected.

From Botox clinics to dental spas, medical specialties have grown up with the kids who were born after World War II, and the industry can best be described as the business of staying young.
Maybe it's the sunshine, maybe the retirees, but in Southwest Florida, it is big business.
And while practices in the Naples-Fort Myers area won't likely rival tourism or construction any time soon, when one adds up the dollars raised by various cosmetic specialties - surgical and non-surgical, dental and dermatological - it becomes clear that Southwest Florida has more than a casual itch to look young.

Dental implants are designed to provide a foundation for replacement teeth which look, feel, and function like natural teeth. The person who has lost teeth regains the ability to eat virtually anything and can smile with confidence, knowing that teeth appear natural and that facial contours will be preserved.
The implants themselves are tiny titanium posts which are placed into the jawbone where teeth are missing. The bone bonds with the titanium, creating a strong foundation for artificial teeth. In addition, implants can help preserve facial structure, preventing the bone deterioration which occurs when teeth are missing.

What are porcelain veneers?
Porcelain laminate veneers are thin custom-made shells of porcelain that are bonded directly to the teeth. They are used to treat gaps and teeth that are permanently stained, poorly shaped, or out of alignment.
What are the risks and benefits of porcelain veneers.
Porcelain laminate veneers provide excellent esthetic results. They stain less than composite bonded veneers and have a more natural appearance. Although it is quite unusual, they can fracture, which requires replacement. Rarely sensitivity can develop following placement, which could be severe enough to warrant root canal therapy.

Veneers
are custom, porcelain facings that are bonded to the front surfaces of teeth
to whiten teeth, close spaces, straighten teeth, or repair chipped or worn
teeth. The veneers are only about 1 mm thick (the thickness of a fingernail).
That same thickness is "shaved" off the natural tooth surface so
when the veneer is bonded to the tooth, the tooth doesn't feel or look "thicker".
Before: Discoloration
on front teeth and teeth are uneven in length.
After:
Veneers return the natural, healthy glow! Teeth are now lengthened evenly.

WBAL-TV found the Target store brand strips that retail for $14.99 -- about half the price of some of the more popular brands.
"If it works, it would be great because then I wouldn't have to go and spend a lot of money at the dentist," Drummond said.
Drummond priced a trip to the dentist at about $500. So, she figure's she doesn't have much to lose.
For the next week, she wore the upper and lower whitening strips, twice a day for 30 minutes. She found the trick was keeping the strips dry so they could stick to her teeth.
Seven days later, Drummond said: "I am very pleased with the results.

NO longer content with teeth that are merely squeaky-clean, an increasing number of persons are requesting "whiter than white" Hollywood smiles.
And they have plenty of company. One survey found that 80 per cent of adults ages 18 to 49 said they would prefer to have whiter, brighter teeth and the demand for tooth bleaching has more than tripled in the last five years.
Older whitening procedures used mild abrasives and detergents to remove surface stains - similar to the scouring your teeth get during a standard office cleaning. Today's professional whitening techniques attack stains and discolouration within the tooth structure itself.

There are two basic uses for Dental Implants:
As an artificial root for a single tooth replacement.
As anchors for a fixed or removable prosthesis to replace
multiple teeth.
What Are the Benefits of Dental Implants?
With the exception of your natural teeth, nothing
looks more natural than an implant. One important benefit
of implants is that they slow the shrinking of bone and gum
tissue from the area of the missing tooth, thus preventing
premature aging.
Of Americans between the ages of 18 and 64, approximately
49% are missing at least one tooth.

Cosmetic Bonding
As children reach their teen years, the appearance of their teeth can do much to promote a healthy self image and confidence.
Unfortunately, sometimes minor injuries occur, or cavities develop in front teeth, and in the past, the only solution was to fix or fill with typical amalgam, or go through an expensive capping or crowning process in order to restore the teeth to a more natural appearance.
Modern technology has changed this. Cosmetic bonding is basically the process of filling or fixing teeth with a tooth-colored filling material in order to maintain appearance by way of a beautiful and natural smile.

Who is
a candidate for dental implants?
Anyone who is missing one or more
of their teeth due to injury, disease, or decay may be a candidate
for dental implants. If one or a few teeth are missing, dental
implants in conjunction with a crown or bridge can replace those
teeth without loosing more bone. If all or most of your teeth
are missing, the dental implants may be placed to replace a loose
fitting full or partial denture. Adequate bone in your jaw is
needed to support the implant(s) along with healthy gum tissues
that are free of periodontal disease.

Cosmetic Dentistry
Dentistry is no longer just a case of filling and extracting
teeth, as it was for many years. Nowadays, many people turn
to dentistry as a way of improving their appearance, much
as they would use cosmetic surgery or even a new hairstyle.
Cosmetic treatments include veneers, crowns, bridges and tooth-coloured
fillings.
There are many different materials and methods available
today to fix teeth. But isn't this something we would
all prefer to avoid? With just a little effort for a few minutes
daily, you can help prevent dental diseases.

HARRISBURG, Pa. -- Custom-fitted trays, white strips, plasma arc lights and lasers. These are just a few of the choices patients face when deciding to whiten their teeth. Sound confusing?
The Pennsylvania Dental Association (PDA) offers the following advice to help you decide which option is best for you.
Dr. David Larson, a Pennsylvania Dental Association (PDA) member dentist from Harrisburg, estimated that only about 30 percent of his patients are fully educated about their options before a whitening consultation.
"Most have a general idea of the outcome but don't really know the process," Dr. Larson said.

When used as directed on healthy teeth, over-the-counter (OTC) teeth whitening products are generally safe and effective. Side effects are few — and usually temporary — but may include:
Sensitive teeth
Gum irritation
According to the American Dental Association (ADA), "teeth whitening" is any process that makes teeth appear whiter — either by lightening teeth or by removing stain and discoloration from teeth. There are two types of teeth whitening products available for use at home:
Whitening toothpastes. All toothpastes contain mild abrasives that help remove surface stains on teeth.

A dental implant is a small "anchor." It is inserted into the jawbone to take the place of your missing tooth root. After the surrounding bone has attached to the implant, a replacement tooth or prosthetic is secured to the top of the implant. The new tooth looks, feels and performs just like your natural teeth
Healthy and natural roots stimulate healthy bone, so when you loose your teeth the surrounding bone begins to shrink. This shrinkage can lead to changes in the shape of your face. Implants stimulate and hold your bone so your face retains its natural shape.
What is involved in the implant procedure?
